Nu Shooz is an American pop and R&B duo, originating from Portland, Oregon, and best known for their 1986 hit single "I Can't Wait," which climbed the charts and became a staple of dance music of that era. The group was formed by husband-and-wife team John Smith and Valerie Day in the early 1980s, with John's proficiency in keyboards and Valerie's captivating vocals leading the forefront of their distinctive sound.

The band initially struggled to find commercial success until the "I Can't Wait" track from their album "Poolside" was remixed by Dutch DJ Peter Slaghuis; the remixed version gained substantial club play and radio airtime, eventually catapulting Nu Shooz to international fame. Over the years, they continued to release music, such as "Point of No Return," but it's "I Can't Wait" that remains their hallmark song, having released various remixes, including those in the 'I Can't Wait: Collected' compilation, demonstrating their timelessness within the dance music scene. After a hiatus, Nu Shooz revived their passion for music with new projects such as "Bagtown" and continued to appeal to both nostalgic fans and a new generation of listeners, blending their classic 80s sound with contemporary production.
