Kaliber 44

Kaliber 44 is a seminal force in Polish hip-hop, known for their unique and innovative approach to the genre. Formed in 1994 in Katowice, Poland, the group originally consisted of brothers Michał "Brat Joka" Marten and Marcin "Abradab" Marten, along with producer Grzegorz "Magik" Duchnik. Kaliber 44's style is characterized by a dark and atmospheric blend of beats, incorporating elements of psychedelia and hardcore rap, with esoteric and often philosophical lyrics.

The group's debut album, "Księga tajemnicza. Prolog" (1996), is considered a landmark release in Polish hip-hop, introducing a sound that was at the time unheard of in the Polish music scene. It was followed by "W 63 minuty dookoła świata" in 1998, reinforcing their reputation for being avant-garde within the genre. After a hiatus, the band returned with "3.44" in 2000 but then went on an indefinite break, during which members pursued solo careers and other projects. Their much-anticipated reunion was marked by the release of "Ułamek tarcia" in 2016, which was met with critical and fan acclaim, proving that Kaliber 44's influence on the Polish hip-hop landscape remains strong. Known for their dynamic live performances, the release of "Normalnie o tej porze (Live)" showcases the energy and prowess of their stage presence. Despite their sporadic activity over the years, the group's legacy, as evident in tracks like "Czarny Śląsk," continues to resonate with new generations of listeners, solidifying their status as pioneers and legends within the genre.
