Emlyn Johnson is a flutist and project leader known for her work in bringing music beyond traditional concert settings to reach new audiences. She is the co-director and flutist of the American Wild Ensemble, an innovative group that celebrates American people, places, and stories by commissioning and performing new music inspired by national parks and other unique locations. Since 2016, Emlyn and the ensemble have premiered more than 40 works in diverse settings—from Hawaiian lava fields to deep underground caves—earning support from notable arts organizations. Beyond performing, she serves as the Executive Director (soon to be Artistic Director) of Pro Musica in Joplin, Missouri, an organization dedicated to classical music concerts and education across a four-state region. Emlyn’s commitment to creating meaningful, site-specific musical experiences marks her as a distinctive voice in contemporary classical music.
