Birdflesh

Birdflesh is a Swedish grindcore band known for their raucous blend of brutal riffs, relentless drumming, and dark humor-infused lyrics. Formed in 1992 in the city of Växjö, the group originally started as a duo with drummer/vocalist Smattro Ansjovis and guitarist Barbro Havohej, but over the years, they have seen a rotating lineup. Their approach combines intense musical ferocity with absurd and cheeky stage personas, making them a distinct act within the extreme metal scene.

Throughout their career, Birdflesh has become renowned for their energetic and playful live shows, alongside a significant output of recorded work. Among their most recent releases are the ferocious "Sickness in the North" and the mosh-inspiring "Hammer Smashed Japanese Face," which continue to showcase the band's ability to inject a sense of fun into the often stern-faced genre of grindcore. Albums like "Extreme Graveyard Tornado" and "Night of the Ultimate Mosh" help cement their reputation for delivering speed-laden, riff-heavy music that incites their audience into frenetic moshing. With "Mongo Musicale" and "Live @ Giants of Grind," Birdflesh captures both their studio creativity and live performance energy, further solidifying their niche as one of grindcore's most entertaining and unrelenting acts.
