Trafassi

Trafassi is a music group from Suriname known for their energetic and danceable music, which blends elements of kaseko (a musical genre from Suriname), salsa, zouk, and more to create a sound that has resonated with fans across the Caribbean and the Netherlands. The band was formed in 1981 by Edgar 'Bugru' Burgos, who had previously played with The Happy Boys, one of Suriname's most famous kaseko bands. Trafassi's name is a Surinamese word meaning "reversal" and was chosen to reflect a new direction in their musical journey.

Trafassi gained widespread recognition with the release of the hit single "Wasmasjien" in 1985, which became an instant party classic in the Netherlands, carving out a permanent place for the group in the Dutch music scene. The group's infectious rhythms often carry humorous or light-hearted lyrics that add to their appeal. Over the years, they have released numerous albums and singles that showcase their ability to evolve with time while staying true to their roots. Trafassi's success can be attributed to their spirited live performances and their ability to get audiences dancing with tracks like "Motorboten," "Heb Je Even Voor Mij," and "Ik Zie 'N Pils." Despite their longevity in the music industry, Trafassi continues to captivate listeners with their unique blend of styles and upbeat melodies.
