Tomáš Brauner

Tomáš Brauner is a renowned Czech conductor born in Prague in 1978. He graduated in conducting from the Prague Academy of Performing Arts in 2005 and later undertook a study attachment at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. Brauner has held several prestigious positions, including Chief Conductor of the Plzeň Philharmonic from 2013 to 2018, Principal Guest Conductor of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra from 2014 to 2018, and Chief Conductor of the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic from 2018 to 2021. Since 2020, he has been the Chief Conductor of the Prague Symphony Orchestra, focusing on the Czech repertoire both domestically and internationally. Brauner has performed with numerous leading orchestras and opera houses, including the Czech Philharmonic, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, and the Slovak Philharmonic. He has also conducted at major international festivals such as the Prague Spring and the Richard Strauss Festival.

Brauner's career extends beyond orchestral conducting to opera, where he has made notable appearances at the Prague State Opera and the National Theatre in Prague. His opera repertoire includes works by Verdi, Janáček, and others. Brauner has received critical acclaim for his recordings, including a Classic Prague Award for his recording of Bohuslav Martinů's complete cello works.
