Japandroids are a Canadian rock duo consisting of Brian King (guitar, vocals) and David Prowse (drums, vocals), who have become known for their explosive live shows and anthemic sound. Formed in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2006, the band initially struggled to find their footing, almost splitting up before their breakthrough. However, they persisted and eventually gained recognition after the release of their first full-length album, "Post-Nothing" in 2009. This debut effort, with its raw energy and emotion, quickly earned them a devoted following and critical acclaim.
Following the success of "Post-Nothing," Japandroids released "Celebration Rock" in 2012, an album that further cemented their status in the rock world with its heartfelt and raucous tracks. Singles like "The House That Heaven Built" became crowd favorites and demonstrated the band's ability to craft sing-along anthems that bridged the gap between punk spirit and mainstream appeal. After a period of relentless touring, Japandroids took a brief hiatus but returned in 2017 with their third album, "Near To The Wild Heart Of Life." This album continued to showcase their evolution as musicians and songwriters, while maintaining the vigorous and earnest sound that their fans had come to adore. Their most recent release, "Massey Fucking Hall (Live)," captures the raw, passionate energy of their live performances and is a testament to the duo's dynamic stage presence.
