Oruã

Oruã is a vibrant indie band from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, formed during a tumultuous period in the country's history. The group was conceptualized by Lê Almeida, a key figure in the independent music scene and founder of Transfusão Noise Records. Oruã's sound is a dynamic blend of post-punk, krautrock, noise, and Brazilian influences, drawing from diverse musical traditions such as afrobeat and classic Brazilian psych rock. The band's name was inspired by a misheard phrase from Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo during a concert in Brazil.

Oruã has gained international recognition, particularly after collaborating with Built to Spill. Members of Oruã, including Lê Almeida and João Casaes, temporarily joined Built to Spill, contributing to their album *When the Wind Forgets Your Name* in 2022. Oruã's recent releases include *Passe*, *Miragem*, and *Íngreme*, showcasing their unique experimental style. The band is known for high-energy live performances and has toured extensively across the US and Europe. With a current lineup featuring Lê Almeida on guitars and vocals, João Casaes on synths, Bigú Medine on bass, and Phill Fernandes on drums, Oruã continues to evolve and captivate audiences with their genre-bending sound.
