The Hics

The Hics are a London-based alt-R&B collective known for their moody, genre-blending sound that fuses soul, jazz, and electronic textures. Formed by BRIT School alumni Sam Paul Evans, Roxane Barker, Jamie Petrie, and Matt James, the group gained traction in the early 2010s with their silky vocal harmonies and hypnotic production. Their 2016 EP *Tangle* became a fan favorite, showcasing their knack for brooding, atmospheric tracks like "Cold Air" and "Russian Dolls," while later releases like *HARMINE* and *Everyday Ppl* leaned into experimental grooves and introspective lyricism.

Though notoriously private about their personal lives, The Hics have built a cult following through collaborations (like Tom Misch’s "Disco Yes") and their signature live shows, where layered vocals and live instrumentation blur the lines between electronic and organic. Recent drops like *Reprise* and *Caught In A Lie* continue their trend of sultry, cinematic vibes, proving they’re still masters of mood music that feels both intimate and expansive.
