Mara Galassi

**Mara Galassi** is an Italian harpist and musicologist celebrated for her expertise in historical harps, spanning Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical eras. Born in Milan in 1956, she studied at the Pesaro Conservatory and Milan’s Civica Scuola di Musica, later honing her craft with legends like David Watkins (modern harp) and early music specialists like David Collyer and Patrick O’Brien. After years as principal harpist for major Italian opera houses, including Palermo’s Teatro Massimo, she shifted focus to early music performance, collaborating with ensembles like Jordi Savall’s Hesperion XX, Concerto Italiano, and Mala Punica. Her award-winning albums, such as *Il Viaggio di Lucrezia* (which snagged Cannes and “Choc de la Musique” honors), showcase her mastery of rare double- and triple-strung harps. Galassi also teaches historical harps in Milan and Barcelona, while her recordings—like *Les Harpes du Ciel* and Handel-inspired works—revive forgotten repertoires with scholarly precision and lush artistry.
