Clément Saunier is one of the most active and respected French classical trumpeters on the international scene. His musical journey began at the Surgères music school, where he started playing the trumpet at age six under the guidance of Pierre Gillet and Gérard Boulanger. He later studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he was mentored by Clément Garrec and Jens McManama, earning first prizes in trumpet and chamber music. Clément Saunier has won numerous international awards in competitions such as those in Porcia, Prague, Jeju, Brussels, and Moscow.
In 2013, he became the solo trumpet of the Ensemble intercontemporain, collaborating with renowned composers and conductors like Peter Eötvös and Matthias Pintscher. His performances span iconic venues across the globe, including the Philharmonie de Paris and Tokyo Suntory Hall. Clément Saunier is also a dedicated educator, having been a professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon since 2021. His discography includes notable albums such as "Directions," which features works by Giacinto Scelsi and Toru Takemitsu. Clément Saunier's recent projects include "Simaku: SOLO" with the Ensemble intercontemporain.
