Christoph Schiller

Christoph Schiller is a musician known for his work with the spinet, a lighter version of the harpsichord. Born in 1963 in Stuttgart, Germany, he studied fine arts at the Kunstakademie Stuttgart and HfBK Hamburg. Later, he pursued piano studies with Daniel Cholette and music theory in Basel. Since 1987, Schiller has been performing concerts of improvised music, initially on the piano but later focusing on the spinet. He has developed unique playing techniques for the spinet, influenced by inside piano techniques. In addition to keyboard instruments, his work with the voice has become increasingly important. Schiller lives in Weil am Rhein and Basel.

Christoph Schiller has collaborated with other musicians, such as Carlo Costa, on projects like "Spinet and Drums," released in 2023. This album showcases a minimalist approach, combining the metallic tones of the spinet with the organic sounds of drums. His recent releases include a variety of classical music performances, but specific details about these works are not widely documented in available sources.
