Zlatomir Fung

Zlatomir Fung is an American cellist known for his stunning technique, expressive musicianship, and a deep connection to the classical repertoire. Born in 1999, Fung quickly rose to prominence on the international music scene, becoming the first American in four decades — and the youngest ever — to win First Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in the Cello Division in 2019. A true prodigy, he has captivated audiences around the world with his solo performances and appearances with major orchestras.

A graduate of the Juilliard School, where he studied with Richard Aaron and Timothy Eddy, Fung has built a reputation for dynamic and thoughtful interpretations of a wide range of works, from the sonatas of Beethoven to contemporary commissions. Whether he's diving into Bach’s cello suites or presenting innovative new programs like Fantasies (Cello Transcriptions), Zlatomir brings a refreshing energy and a sense of adventure to everything he plays.
