Lucio Gregoretti is an Italian composer born in Rome in 1961, known for his versatile work spanning operas, symphonic and chamber music, electroacoustic compositions, and music for theatre, film, and television. He studied composition and music history at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, learning from notable figures like Mauro Bortolotti and attending seminars with Sylvano Bussotti and Ennio Morricone. Over his career, Gregoretti has held residencies at prestigious international institutions, helping him build collaborations across cultures and disciplines. His music has been performed by major Italian theaters and orchestras, such as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and Teatro Massimo, and featured worldwide at contemporary music festivals.
Gregoretti has also composed extensively for film and TV, scoring works including "Nato Il Sei Ottobre," "La quattordicesima domenica del tempo ordinario," and "Dante," among others. Beyond composing, he has served as president of the Associazione Nuova Consonanza in Rome from 2015 to 2021 and was named artistic director of Fondazione Ravello in January 2025. His compositions are published by Rai Trade and Suvini Zerboni, with recordings available on several labels.
