Alte Sau

Alte Sau is a punk band from Hamburg, Germany, formed in 2013. The group is led by Jens Rachut and also includes Raoul Doré on drums and Rebecca Oehms on organ, synthesizer, and vocals. They have a unique sound that blends punk energy with electronic music elements, notably eschewing traditional guitar and bass in favor of a home organ and rudimentary drums. Their debut self-titled album came out in 2014 on Major Label, featuring guest female choral vocals by "Die Sibirischen Falten." In 2016, they released a split EP with the Austrian band Lime Crush and followed it with their second album, *To Be As Livin’*, which incorporated a male choir for added texture. Later releases include *Öl im Bauch* in 2021, showcasing their continued evolution and distinctive style within the punk genre.

Alte Sau’s approach is refreshing in the punk scene, blending raw, stripped-down instrumentation with choral elements and electronic influences, making them stand out from typical punk bands. Their creative use of organ and synths alongside traditional punk rhythms gives them a sound that’s both nostalgic and innovative, appealing to fans of punk who appreciate experimental sounds and thoughtful arrangements.
