**Estrellas de Chocolate** is a Cuban son conjunto founded by conguero Félix "Chocolate" Alfonso in 1959. The original lineup included notable musicians such as Niño Rivera on tres, Agustín Cabrera on vocals and guitar, David Palomares on piano, and Armando Albertini "El Gorila" on trumpet. The group's style was heavily influenced by earlier conjuntos like Arsenio Rodríguez's and Conjunto Chappottín. Estrellas de Chocolate gained popularity in Cuba during the early 1960s, releasing several albums and touring in places like Curaçao and Aruba. Their music was also influential beyond Cuba, as Johnny Pacheco named his label Fania Records after their 1960 song "Fania."
Some of their notable releases include *Fiesta cubana* (1960), *Fiesta en Curaçao* (1960), and *Mi son pilón*. Over the years, the band has undergone changes, with Papi Oviedo replacing Niño Rivera on tres and Lilí Martínez joining on piano. As of 2003, Conjunto Estrellas de Chocolate remained active in Cuba, continuing to contribute to the rich heritage of Cuban son music.
