Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra
The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, founded in the late 1930s as the Palestine Broadcasting Service Orchestra, has been a cornerstone of Israel's classical music scene for over 80 years. Based in the Henry Crown Symphony Hall in Jerusalem, the orchestra has evolved from its roots as a national radio orchestra to become one of Israel's premier symphonic ensembles. Throughout its history, the JSO has been led by notable conductors including Gary Bertini, Frédéric Chaslin, and Leon Botstein, and has performed with world-renowned soloists like Igor Stravinsky, Arthur Rubinstein, and Isaac Stern.
Known for its diverse repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary works, the JSO has been particularly committed to promoting Israeli composers and premiering new compositions. The orchestra regularly tours internationally, having performed at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and the Musikverein in Vienna.
