Diamond Rugs is a supergroup that brings together the raw energy and talents of several well-established alternative and indie rock musicians. The band was formed in 2011 and consists of John McCauley and Robbie Crowell of Deer Tick, Ian Saint Pé of Black Lips, Hardy Morris of Dead Confederate, Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, and Bryan Dufresne from Six Finger Satellite. Their collective sound is a rough-edged amalgamation of blues, rock, punk, and country influences that defies easy categorization.
The band released their self-titled debut album "Diamond Rugs" in 2012 to critical acclaim, showcasing their gritty, down-to-earth storytelling and diverse array of musical styles. Following the positive reception, they came out with their sophomore effort, "Cosmetics," in 2015, further cementing their place in the indie rock pantheon. Renowned for their raucous, energetic performances and somewhat irreverent approach to music-making, Diamond Rugs has delighted fans with releases like "Thunk" and "Voodoo Doll," as well as the uniquely titled holiday track "Gimme a Beer / Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant." Diamond Rugs' music vibrates with a sense of spontaneity and camaraderie that has become a signature of their collaborative spirit.
