Kagrra, was a Japanese visual kei rock band known for blending traditional Japanese aesthetics and instruments with modern rock music. Formed in 1998, the band originally started as "Crow" before changing their name to Kagrra, in 2000. Their music stood out in the visual kei scene for its incorporation of koto (a traditional Japanese string instrument), poetic lyrics inspired by classical Japanese themes, and an overall concept they referred to as "Neo Japanesque."
The band consisted of vocalist Isshi, guitarist Shin, bassist Nao, drummer Izumi, and koto/guitar player Akiya. Kagrra, earned a devoted fanbase through their distinctive sound and elaborate visual presentation. They released a steady stream of albums and singles, including popular releases like "桜花爛漫" and "恋綴魂." Sadly, the band announced their disbandment in 2011, and later that year, vocalist Isshi passed away, marking a heartbreaking end to their legacy. Despite their relatively short lifespan, Kagrra, remains a beloved name in the visual kei and J-rock communities.
