Minus Story

Minus Story was a Lawrence, Kansas-based indie rock band active in the early 2000s, known for their raw, experimental sound and ties to the Elephant Six Collective (home to acts like Neutral Milk Hotel and The Olivia Tremor Control). Formed around frontman Jordan Geiger, the group blended lo-fi textures with sprawling, emotionally charged arrangements, creating a vibe that felt equally haunted and whimsical. Their 2001 debut *Make The Dead Come* and 2004’s *No Rest for Ghosts* showcased their knack for combining off-kilter melodies with cathartic noise, earning them a cult following in the DIY scene. Live recordings like *Minus Story Live at Schubas 03/19/2005* capture their chaotic, spirited performances. While they never broke into the mainstream, their adventurous spirit and collaboration-heavy approach left a distinct mark on the mid-2000s indie landscape before fading from active prominence.
