Tat Ming Pair

Tat Ming Pair is a pioneering Cantopop duo from Hong Kong, formed in the mid-1980s by lead vocalist Anthony Wong Yiu-ming and composer/keyboardist Tats Lau Yi-tat. Known for their eclectic fusion of synth-pop, new wave, and electronic music, Tat Ming Pair stood out in the local music scene with their progressive sound and socially conscious lyrics. Their songs often tackled bold themes like politics, identity, and urban life—setting them apart from many mainstream Cantopop acts of the era.

The duo gained popularity with hits such as “Forbidden Colors” (禁色) and “The Ten Young Firemen” (十個救火的少年), and have been influential in shaping the sound and artistic direction of modern Hong Kong music.
