Louis Moutin

Louis Moutin is a Paris-born jazz drummer, best known as half of the dynamic twin brother duo with bassist François Moutin. Born on Christmas Eve 1961 to jazz-loving parents, Louis dove headfirst into the genre early on, soaking up the sounds of records spinning at home alongside his brother, and the self-taught siblings ditched their scientific studies in the mid-1980s to chase music full-time.

Teaming up professionally, they've collaborated with jazz heavyweights like Martial Solal, Michel Portal, Jean-Michel Pilc, and later American greats such as Steve Kuhn and Billy Hart through projects like the Moutin Réunion Quartet (2000-2013) and the Moutin Factory Quintet since 2013, racking up hundreds of concerts across Europe and the US. Loved for their killer rhythm chemistry, onstage energy, and original compositions, the Moutin brothers keep the jazz flame burning bright.
