**Uwalmassa** is the innovative Indonesian trio made up of Harsya Wahono, Randy Pradipta, and Pujangga Rahseta, hailing from Jakarta and deeply rooted in deconstructing traditional gamelan music with a modern electronic twist. They blend the rich, dense scales and rhythms of gamelan—using instruments like kendang, suling, kacapi, and more—with Western synths, samplers, drum machines, and improv vibes inspired by free jazz pioneers like Ornette Coleman, creating a hypnotic, dancefloor-ready sound that's equal parts meditative and dynamic.

Formed under the Jakarta-based DIVISI62 label, they've dropped gems like the 2018 Bumi Uthiri EP, the brooding Malar album, and their latest EP3 on Sundial in 2025, featuring untitled tracks that fuse gamelan with ambient techno and tribal elements. They've lit up stages from Berlin's Berghain to Jakarta's Goethe Institut, reimagining Indonesian styles like dangdut and jaipongan for a global audience while challenging narrow views of cultural identity.
