Magnu Sousá

Magnu Sousá, born Magno de Oliveira Souza, is a renowned Brazilian musician, composer, and producer. He is best known as part of the samba duo Prettos, alongside his brother Maurílio de Oliveira. Born on August 31, 1974, in São Paulo, Magnu Sousá has a rich musical background, having studied singing at the Universidade Livre de Música. He was a key member of the influential group Quinteto em Branco e Preto for 18 years, performing globally and collaborating with iconic figures like Beth Carvalho and Paulinho da Viola. Magnu Sousá has also worked as a director and producer for various musical projects, including albums by the Comunidade Samba da Vela, which he co-founded in 2000 with his brother. His compositions have been recorded by notable artists such as Maria Rita, Alcione, and Jair Rodrigues.

As part of Prettos, Magnu Sousá continues to contribute to the vibrant Brazilian music scene, blending genres like samba, MPB, and pagode. Recent releases include "Prettos no Pagode" and "Quintal dos Prettos (Ao Vivo)," showcasing his enduring creativity and musical versatility. Magnu Sousá's work spans not only music but also film, having appeared in the movie "É Proibido Fumar" in 2009.
