Deltron 3030

Deltron 3030 is an alternative hip-hop supergroup born at the dawn of the new millennium, a collaboration between producer Dan the Automator (Daniel Nakamura), rapper Del the Funky Homosapien (Teren Delvon Jones), and turntablist Kid Koala (Eric San). Their eponymous debut album "Deltron 3030" was released in 2000 and quickly became a cult classic, blending a futuristic, dystopian science-fiction narrative with intricate production and dexterous rhymes. The concept album was celebrated for its visionary storytelling, complex lyrical prowess, and cinematic scope, creating an alternate reality where a rap battle could save the universe from corruption and corporate domination.

After a lengthy hiatus that kept fans in eager anticipation, Deltron 3030 returned with their sophomore effort, "Event 2" in 2013. The album continued the narrative of their debut, reflecting on societal and technological issues with the same eclectic mix of hip-hop beats, orchestral arrangements, and sci-fi inspired lyricism. Accompanying the main release were two instrumental versions, "Event 2 the Instrumentals" and "Deltron 3030 - The Instrumentals", which showcased Dan the Automator's production prowess devoid of lyrical interplay, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in the purely musical layers of their expansive, otherworldly soundscape. Deltron 3030's work remains a benchmark for concept albums in hip-hop, and their layered texts and beats continue to influence both mainstream and underground artists alike.
