Olga Dowbusch-Lubotsky

Olga Dowbusch-Lubotsky is a Russian-born cellist who started playing at the age of seven and trained in both Moscow and Hamburg, graduating from the Hamburg University of Music. She’s built a vibrant international career, performing as a soloist and chamber musician across Europe and Russia, and has been a regular at major festivals such as Kuhmo in Finland and Peter the Great in the Netherlands. Olga is known for her dynamic collaborations with top musicians—including pianists Irina Schnittke, Geoffrey Madge, and Ralf Gothoni, and violinists like Alexander Brussilovsky and Mark Lubotsky, with whom she forms the Lubotsky Trio.

Specializing in both Romantic and contemporary repertoire, Olga has premiered works by leading composers like Sofia Gubaidulina, Alfred Schnittke, and Alexander Raskatov, and she’s recorded for respected labels including BIS and NCA. Her playing is praised for its technical mastery and expressive depth, particularly in bringing out the colors of diverse musical styles. Currently, she heads the cello class at the International Alfred Schnittke Music Academy in Hamburg and continues to explore new music, recently releasing albums like Le Secret: Music for Cello & Harp and Schnittke: Chamber Music, with frequent collaborations with Irina Schnittke and Mark Lubotsky.
