Zornitsa Orchestra

The Zornitsa Orchestra, established in 1981 as part of the Zornitsa Student Folklore Ensemble in Sofia, Bulgaria, is renowned for its traditional Bulgarian folk music. Initially incorporating classical instruments like the accordion and clarinet, the orchestra shifted its focus to traditional Bulgarian instruments such as the kaval, gadulka, gayda, tambura, and tapan starting from 1995. Under the leadership of Emil Genov, the Zornitsa Orchestra has released over ten music CDs, featuring a collection of Bulgarian folk dances and songs, all produced by Balkanfolk. The orchestra's music is available on various platforms, including Spotify, iTunes, and YouTube.

The orchestra has also been involved in educational activities, with its musicians serving as teachers of Bulgarian folk instruments at the Balkanfolk Balkan Folk Songs, Music and Dance Seminar since its inception in 1997. This role highlights their dedication not only to performing traditional music but also to preserving and teaching Bulgarian musical culture.
