Mendi Rodan

Mendi Rodan was a prominent Israeli conductor and composer. Born in Romania, he survived the Holocaust and immigrated to Palestine in 1944. He quickly became a leading figure in the Israeli music scene, co-founding the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's resident opera company and later serving as the music director of the Israel Broadcasting Authority Orchestra, which later became the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Rodan was a champion of Israeli composers and also known for his interpretations of the standard orchestral repertoire. He conducted orchestras around the world and made numerous recordings, many of which feature Israeli soloists and composers, as evidenced by the albums listed.

Beyond his conducting career, Rodan composed several works, including operas, orchestral pieces, and chamber music. He was a highly respected figure in Israeli musical life, contributing significantly to the development and promotion of the country's musical landscape. His legacy continues to influence generations of musicians.
