Strings

**Strings** was a beloved Pakistani pop-rock duo formed in Karachi in 1988 by childhood friends Bilal Maqsood (vocals/guitar) and Faisal Kapadia (vocals). Known for blending soulful melodies with poetic Urdu lyrics, they became icons of South Asia’s music scene. After a hiatus in the ’90s, they roared back with hits like *Duur* and *Sar Kiye Yeh Pahar*, cementing their legacy. Their album *Dhaani* (2003) and collaborations like *Sohni Dharti* on *Coke Studio Season 8* showcased their evolving sound, mixing traditional influences with modern rock. Strings also ventured into soundtracks, with *Dil Se Cricket Bola* becoming an anthem for cricket fans. After three decades of shaping Pakistan’s music landscape, the duo disbanded in 2021 following Faisal’s retirement due to health concerns, leaving behind a timeless catalog of emotional, genre-defining work.
