Papernut Cambridge is a delightfully quirky British musical project led by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ian Button (formerly of Death in Vegas and Thrashing Doves). Since forming in the early 2010s, they’ve carved out a cozy niche with their nostalgic blend of psychedelic pop, indie charm, and offbeat storytelling. Their sound often feels like a warm mixtape of ’60s sunshine pop, ’70s kitsch, and British kitchen-sink whimsy, all wrapped in lo-fi warmth. The project has been prolific, releasing albums like *How to Love Someone* (2020) and *Mr Shimshiner* (2023), which mix clever lyrics with retro grooves and collaborator cameos (including members of The Left Outsides and Robert Rotifer’s band). Fans love their knack for turning everyday eccentricities – think garden gnomes, rotary dial phones, or a round of *Cinderella Crazy Golf* – into oddly endearing anthems.
