Returning We Hear the Larks

"Returning We Hear the Larks" is the solo progressive metal project of British musician Jak Noble, who has carved a unique niche by blending complex guitar work with historical and literary themes, primarily focusing on the First World War. Named after a poem by war poet Isaac Rosenberg, Noble's work under this moniker has been characterized by a mix of aggressive riffing, emotive melodies, and a penchant for conceptual depth, as well as his DIY ethic in production and distribution.

Since the project's inception in the late 2000s, Noble has prolifically released a variety of EPs and albums, with notable works such as "Proud England" and "Ypres," the latter an ambitious concept album that received a complete remake in 2023, much to the delight of fans. This was followed by remakes of instrumentals and other early EPs, showcasing Noble's commitment to revisiting and refining his past works. With releases like "Stheno (10th Anniversary Remake)" and creative endeavors such as "Lavender Town (Thall Version)," Noble continues to innovate within the metal genre while remaining true to the intellectual and emotional roots of the project. Through "Returning We Hear the Larks," Jak Noble has demonstrated a profound ability to translate historical narratives and personal expression into a compelling musical journey.
