Nadje Noordhuis

Nadje Noordhuis is an Australian-born, New York-based jazz composer, trumpeter, and storyteller whose music sparkles with hints of Nordic folk, cinematic soundscapes, and her Tasmanian upbringing. Known for her warm, lyrical trumpet tone and evocative compositions, she’s collaborated with heavyweights like Esperanza Spalding, Laurie Anderson, and the New York Philharmonic while carving out her own niche in contemporary jazz. Her 2023 album *Ten Sails*—alongside releases like *Full Circle* and tracks such as “Snow Line”—showcases her knack for blending minimalist grooves with lush orchestral textures, often inspired by nature and personal journeys. A founding member of the avant-garde Asphalt Orchestra, she’s also a proud advocate for gender equity in jazz, co-founding the Mettle Music collective to uplift women and non-binary artists. Whether crafting intimate ballads or grand, glacier-sized soundscapes, Noordhuis’ work feels like a cozy chat with an old friend who just happens to have a Grammy nomination (and an ARIA nod) in their back pocket.
