Massage is an emerging indie-pop band that radiates with the laid-back charm of Los Angeles, the city they call home. The group formed when members, drawn together by a shared fondness for the jangly pop of yesteryears' C86 artists and the breezy melodies of the Paisley Underground, decided to create music infused with their own modern sensibility. Massage’s line-up includes singer/guitarists Alex Naidus, formerly of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and Andrew Romano, journalist by day, with support from bassist David Rager, keyboardist/vocalist Gabi Ferrer, and drummer Michael Felix. Their sound owes as much to the wistful narratives of The Go-Betweens as it does to the energetic indie-pop of The Feelies, creating a sun-soaked soundscape perfect for drives along the coast or introspective evenings at home.
Massage’s music captures the complexities of personal emotions and relationships in straightforward, emotionally honest lyrics, combined with melodies that linger long after the song has ended. With singles like "Lane Lines" and "Oh Boy," the band delivers pop anthems that are both reflective and infectious. Their most recent releases see them refining their sound and exploring the depths of their artistry. "Still Life" and "Made of Moods" showcase the band's evolution, embracing a more mature, textured sound that resonates with fans and newcomers alike. Massage manages to consistently offer up a soundtrack that feels both warmly familiar and excitingly new, promising their listeners an escape into a world awash with melodic guitars and heartfelt songwriting.
