June Panic
June Panic is the long-running creative vehicle of North Dakota-based musician Shane Shirley, a fiercely independent artist who’s been crafting lo-fi, emotionally raw tunes since the 1990s. Known for his DIY ethos and prolific output, Shirley records almost entirely alone, layering whimsical folk-rock melodies with introspective lyrics and experimental flourishes. Emerging from Fargo’s underground scene, he gained a cult following for albums like *Childhood* and *Happy Thunder Buddha*, blending cracked poetry with cassette-tape charm. While briefly affiliated with labels like Secretly Canadian, June Panic remains a defiantly homegrown project—equal parts bedroom philosopher and Midwestern mystic. His recent work, including the surreal *Glory Hole* and *Bellybuttonless Boy*, continues his tradition of turning existential musings into oddly catchy, off-kilter anthems.
