Ivica Čikeš

Ivica Čikeš is a renowned Croatian bass, born on March 10, 1964, in Split. He began his vocal education at the Josip Hatze music school and later studied singing at the Split branch of the Music Academy in Zagreb under Professor Cynthia Hansell-Bakić. Čikeš continued his training in Rome and Parma with Maja Sunara and conductor Wilhelm Wodnansky. His career has been marked by significant performances, including his debut in Mozart's Requiem in 1989 and his first opera role as Marquis D'Aubigny in Verdi's La Traviata in 1992. He has been a long-term member of the Opera of the Croatian National Theatre in Split before joining the Opera of the CNT in Zagreb, where he has performed a variety of roles, notably in the Italian repertoire and Croatian operas like "Nikola Šubić Zrinjski" and "Ero s onoga svijeta" by Jakov Gotovac.

Čikeš's repertoire includes a wide range of operas and oratorios, showcasing his versatility as a performer. He has been recognized with several awards for his interpretations, including roles in Verdi's "Attila," "Nabucco," and Boito's "Mefistofele." His performances are applauded for their depth and nuance, reflecting his extensive experience in both traditional and contemporary works.
