C.L. Smooth is a rapper and producer best known for his work with Pete Rock. The duo released a string of classic albums in the early '90s, including "Mecca and the Soul Brother" and "The Main Ingredient." Smooth's laid-back flow and witty lyrics made him a standout in the golden age of hip-hop. After the duo split in 1995, Smooth continued to release solo albums, including "American Me" and "The Emancipation of Corey Penn." He has also collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Nas, Raekwon, and Talib Kweli.
