Mestre Bigodinho was a renowned capoeira master and musician from Brazil. Born in 1933 in Acupe, he moved to Salvador in 1950 where he began learning capoeira under Mestre Waldemar Rodrigues da Paixão. Bigodinho was known for his musical talent in both capoeira and samba de roda, and he passed on his wisdom through the oral tradition, particularly through the ladainhas (litanies) he composed.
Bigodinho was considered one of the leading Angoleiro Elders in capoeira, alongside other notable figures like Mestres João Grande, João Pequeno, and Pastinha. He contributed significantly to preserving and promoting Capoeira Angola traditions. Mestre Bigodinho passed away in 2011, leaving behind a rich legacy in the world of capoeira and Brazilian cultural arts.
