Sonic Flower

Sonic Flower is a Japanese heavy blues rock band that emerged as an offshoot from the influential doom metal band Church of Misery. Created by Church of Misery bassist and leader Tatsu Mikami in the early 2000s, Sonic Flower was conceived as an instrumental side-project. Unlike Church of Misery's lyrical preoccupation with serial killers and darker themes, Sonic Flower delved into a more groove-oriented, unadulterated brand of rock that borrowed heavily from the '70s heavy blues and hard rock sound. Their lineup also featured other members of the Japanese doom scene, adding to their credibility and establishing a strong musical pedigree.

Their self-titled debut, "Sonic Flower," released in 2003, showcased their raw energy and dynamic musicianship, solidifying their position in the underground rock scene. Despite their initial burst of activity, the band's projects were put on hold for several years due to various circumstances. However, their music received a resurgence of interest among fans of the genre, leading to represses and the release of previously unheard material. In recent years, Sonic Flower has made a compelling return with reissues and new releases such as "Rides Again," which contains unreleased studio recordings from 2005, and new singles like "Me and My Bellbottom Blues" and "Super Witch." The band's authentic sound and vintage style continue to resonate with aficionados of blues-laden heavy rock.
