Daniel Lioneye

Daniel Lioneye is a band that sprouted from the creative forces within the Finnish love-metal group HIM. Formed in 2001, Daniel Lioneye is essentially a side project that showcases the versatile musical abilities of the HIM band members under alter egos. The brainchild of guitarist Mikko "Linde" Lindström (who adopts the band's namesake, Daniel Lioneye, as his moniker), the group initially set out as an avenue to explore a grittier blend of rock, with a distinct inclination towards heavy metal and experimental sounds. The band's lineup over the years has included other HIM members, such as bassist Mikko "Mige" Paananen and drummer Gas Lipstick, as well as various other musicians for live performances.

Daniel Lioneye's discography is as diverse as it is provocative. Their debut album, "The King of Rock 'n' Roll," released in 2001, is appreciated for its title track which gained substantial notoriety for being the theme song of the wild TV show 'Viva La Bam'. Several years later, the group followed up with "Vol II" in 2010, which gravitated towards a heavier, black-metal inspired sound, laying bare their willingness to push boundaries. Their most recent offering, "Vol III" released in 2016, sees Daniel Lioneye delving into more of a hard rock and melodic territory, demonstrating the band's continuous evolution and refusal to be pigeonholed into one single genre. Despite its members' commitments to their main band, Daniel Lioneye serves as an expressive outlet, embracing a raw and often psychedelic energy that marks a distinctive departure from their work with HIM.
