Zsolt Nagy is a renowned Hungarian conductor, born in Gyula, Hungary, in 1957. He began his musical career as a coach and conductor at the City Theatre of Békéscsaba from 1976 to 1979. Nagy studied conducting at the Academy of Music in Budapest under István Párkai, graduating in 1984. He furthered his studies with scholarships from the Soros Foundation, allowing him to study in Milan and Paris. Nagy worked as an assistant to composer Péter Eötvös at the Karlsruhe Academy of Music from 1990 to 1995. Since 1999, he has been the Chief Conductor and Artistic Adviser of the Israel Contemporary Players. In 2002, he became a professor of conducting at the Paris Conservatory. Nagy has conducted numerous orchestras worldwide, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the RAI orchestras in Milan and Turin, and has premiered over 500 new compositions.
His recent releases include works by Stravinsky, Holler, and Scelsi, showcasing his versatility in interpreting a wide range of musical styles. Nagy's contributions to contemporary music have been recognized with a special award for promoting new Israeli music.
