Andi Otto is a composer and performer of electronic music based in Hamburg, Germany. He is known for playing a unique, sensor-extended cello bow called 'Fello,' which he developed at STEIM (Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music) in Amsterdam. This innovative instrument allows him to explore expressive play with digitally processed sounds. Andi Otto is also a DJ and has been involved in various musical projects, including composing for theatre and dance performances. He holds a Master's degree in Applied Cultural Sciences and has taught media theories and musical interface concepts at institutions like Hochschule der Künste in Bern and Humboldt University Berlin.
Andi Otto's creative endeavors have taken him worldwide, including performances in India and Japan, where he was a resident artist at Villa Kamogawa in Kyoto. He is one of the founders of the Pingipung label and has collaborated with artists from different musical backgrounds, such as the classical Hindustani vocalist MD Pallavi. His music often reflects a curiosity towards blending electronic and traditional musical cultures. Andi Otto has also written a PhD thesis on the history of electronic musical instruments involving bodily gestures.
