The Association

The Association is an American sunshine pop band from California known for their tight vocal harmony and polished sound. Formed in 1965, the group initially consisted of members Gary Alexander, Russ Giguere, Brian Cole, Ted Bluechel Jr., Larry Ramos, and Jim Yester. They quickly rose to fame with their breakthrough hit "Along Comes Mary," which peaked at number seven on the Billboard charts, followed by the chart-topping single "Cherish," both released in 1966.

Their success continued with a string of hits throughout the late 1960s, notably "Windy" and "Never My Love," the latter being one of the most played songs in broadcasting history, according to BMI. The Association's intricate vocal arrangements and catchy melodies made them one of the leading bands of the sunshine pop genre. Despite several lineup changes and periods of hiatus, The Association has continued to perform with varying personnel, maintaining a presence in the nostalgia concert circuit. Their music, including the live performances on The Ed Sullivan Show and their studio classics, continues to evoke the breezy, optimistic spirit of the 1960s era in which they thrived. The band’s legacy persists as their songs remain popular, capturing new fans and satisfying those who grew up harmonizing with their timeless choruses.
