Takers & Users is a band that formed in 2014, emerging from the members' previous project, Hardcase. The band's name is inspired by a song by The Business, titled "Takers and Users," though they mention there's no deeper meaning behind it. Initially, the band consisted of Darzo on vocals and bass, Sprouley, and another member, with Ryan joining later on second guitar. They are known for their DIY ethos and have released music such as their album "Backbars and Alleyways," which was supported by Randale Records after they sent out demo tapes. Their music often reflects a mix of genres, typical of the small but diverse music scene in Belfast, where they are based.
Their music and performances often blend with other genres like hardcore, ska, or psychobilly, reflecting the eclectic nature of the Belfast music scene. Takers & Users have expressed plans to continue releasing new music, including an EP and a second album. Their song "The Neurotics Were Right" is more of a commentary on political issues rather than a tribute to the band The Neurotics. Despite their DIY approach, they have managed to gain recognition and support within the punk and oi communities.
