Embodyment, an influential band within the realms of Christian metal and hardcore, began their journey in the early 1990s. Hailing from Arlington, Texas, they initially crafted a sound that was heavily grounded in death metal and later transitioned to a more melodic metalcore and alternative rock style. The quintet was comprised of members Sean Corbray (vocals), Jason Lindquist (guitars), James Lanigan (bass), and drummer Mark Garza. Their persistent evolution in sound is a testament to their desire to push the boundaries of genre conventions and personal artistic expression.
The band's most recent releases reflect their dynamic progression as musicians. "Songs for the Living," released in 2002, showcased the band's embrace of a more rock-oriented sound, diverging from their earlier, heavier compositions. They maintained their reputation for introspective lyrics and impassioned delivery. Preceding this album, Embodyment delivered "Hold Your Breath" (2001), which continued to solidify their presence in the alternative metal scene. "The Narrow Scope Of Things" (2000) and "Embrace The Eternal" (1999) are notable for featuring the group's transition from their death metal roots into a more refined metalcore sound. Although the band parted ways in 2004, their work, particularly "Embrace The Eternal" which is considered a classic in the Christian metal genre, continues to resonate with fans and influence newer generations of metal and hardcore artists.
