Villagers is an Irish indie folk project fronted by the talented singer-songwriter Conor O'Brien. Formed in Dublin in 2008, following O'Brien's involvement with the band The Immediate, Villagers quickly made a name for themselves in the indie music scene thanks to their thoughtful lyrics and haunting melodies. Villagers first attracted international attention with their debut album, 'Becoming a Jackal,' released in 2010, which garnered critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize as well as the Choice Music Prize.
Over the years, Villagers have evolved, with O'Brien's songwriting exploring a range of sonic textures and lyrical themes. Their discography includes a series of compelling releases, with albums like 'The Art Of Pretending To Swim' and 'Where Have You Been All My Life?' highlighting O'Brien's growth as both a composer and lyricist. Not one to rest on his laurels, O'Brien continues to push the envelope with the newest album, 'Fever Dreams,' a mesmerizing collection of songs that showcase Villagers' penchant for dreamlike storytelling enveloped in lush, experimental soundscapes. The album, along with its deluxe edition, reaffirms Villagers' status as a staple of the indie folk genre and a conduit for introspective and evocative music.
