Zino Francescatti

Zino Francescatti (1902–1991) was a French violinist celebrated for his virtuosic technique and lyrical playing style. Born in Marseille into a musical family, he quickly established himself as one of the leading violinists of the 20th century. Known for his crystalline tone and impeccable phrasing, Francescatti performed with many of the world’s top orchestras and collaborated with esteemed musicians like pianist Robert Casadesus. His repertoire ranged from the great Romantic concertos to works by Beethoven, Paganini, and Chausson, and his recordings remain highly regarded by classical music lovers.
