Greenwood Rye

Greenwood Rye is a modern jam-grass band formed in Nashville, Tennessee, as the house band for the award-winning bluegrass supper club, Jane's Hideaway. Led by Shawn Spencer on guitar and vocals, the band includes Cat McDonald on fiddle and vocals, David Freeman on mandolin and vocals, Taylor Shuck on banjo, and Andy Brown on upright bass. They are known for crafting fun, modern songs rooted in bluegrass, often incorporating jam-band elements and eclectic covers across various genres, all performed with the rich sounds of acoustic instruments. Regular guest appearances by notable Nashville musicians add to their dynamic performances.

Shawn Spencer previously fronted the band Seven Handle Circus, which toured extensively and gained recognition for its modern bluegrass-fusion style. Seven Handle Circus played alongside notable bands like Mumford and Sons and Zack Brown Band, and their album "Whiskey Still and Sleeping Pill" charted on the AMA Americana Chart. This background influences Greenwood Rye's unique blend of traditional and contemporary music styles.
