Anita Rachvelishvili

Anita Rachvelishvili is a Georgian mezzo-soprano known for her rich, powerful voice and commanding stage presence. She rose to international fame in 2009 when she starred as Carmen at La Scala in Milan, under the baton of Daniel Barenboim—a performance that was broadcast live around the world. Since then, she's graced the stages of many of the world's leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where her dramatic performances and vocal depth have been widely praised.

Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Rachvelishvili studied at the State Conservatory there before joining the young artist program at La Scala.
