Spare Snare is a Scottish indie rock institution that’s been cranking out their scrappy, lo-fi charm since forming in Dundee during the early '90s. Fronted by Jan Burnett, the band built a cult following with their DIY ethos, fuzzy guitars, and deadpan wit, blending garage rock energy with wry observational lyrics. Their 2020s output—including cheekily titled tracks like *Hold Your Sex* and *I Am God*—proves they’ve kept their mischievous spirit intact, while the *Sounds Recorded by Steve Albini* release nods to their cred as underground lifers who’ve collaborated with indie royalty. Still proudly unpolished after 30+ years, Spare Snare remains the kind of band that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled on a secret basement show… even when you’re just streaming them.
