Kretens is a Hungarian punk rock band formed in 1981 in Budapest. The founding members included Horváth Attila (Hemü), Hrutka Róbert, Krasznár János, and Tóth Miklós (Max). They first performed live in February 1981 at the Ruhaipari Szakközépiskola. Kretens gained attention for their energetic performances and were featured in a French documentary about the Hungarian punk scene in 1983. The band has undergone several lineup changes over the years and has performed with notable artists like Henry Rollins and UK Subs. After disbanding in 1995, they reunited several times, including in 1996 and 2006, releasing their first CD in 2006 to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
In recent years, Kretens has continued to perform and release new music, with albums like *35 Év* and *Rest of Kretens*. Their current lineup includes Hemü, Max, Doba Dániel (Dandy), and Varga Zoltán (Zéé). The band remains active in the punk scene, maintaining their energetic style and fan base.
